How to Treat Cracked Heels
Contrary to popular belief, dry cracked feet are not the generally the result of dry skin. They are the result of improper foot care and can affect anyone whether they suffered from dry skin or not. Cracked heels not only look unattractive, but can be quite painful as well. Here are some tips following which you can get rid of cracked heels once and for all.
Hydrate your body from the inside out by drinking no less than 2 liter of plain water a day. Use an air humidifier in your home to moisturize the air.
Daily cleaning and moisturizing is essential, for healing the heels. At the end of the day try to soak your feet in warm salty water for at least 10 -15 minutes. After drying your feet, apply your favorite foot cream to moisturize. Do not leave your feet open but wear a pair of socks immediately and keep the socks on overnight.
Every night, before going to bed massaging your dried and cracked feet with olive oil, it will help you regain smooth heels. For best results, after applying olive oil wear socks overnight.
Paraffin wax also works best for cracked heels. Take paraffin wax and melt it with a small amount of mustard oil. Once melted, let it cool for a few minutes. Immediately apply the wax to your feet and leave it overnight. Rinse off in the morning and repeat the process before going to sleep. Continue the application for about 10 to 15 days.
Pumice stone is another useful remedy that works to get rid of the cracked heels whereby you soak your feet in warm water for 15 minutes after which you rub the edges of cracked heels gently with the pumice stone. Caution should be taken not to rub vigorously and you will be able to get rid of the dead skin while paving way for new smoother one. Once you have finished you can apply a lotion or cream prescribed by your podiatrist to keep the skin of the heals moistened and smooth.
